Edits not being saved

Hi everyone,

I was editing my imported bookmarks in delicious today and it went fine
for a while. But then I noticed that some of my edits disappeared
after I made them.
Following a lot of testing I've found that it now happens for ALL my
edits.
So as an example I go to an existing item, edit tags and press 'save'.
The screen shows the changes.
Then if I go back to the item a few seconds later (or five minutes or
ten minutes later) the changes are no longer there.
I've tried reloading the releavnt pages but it makes no difference.
I've reproduced the issue over and over again. This is not a temporary
30-minute problem.

Any ideas? This is very frustrating.
If people need it, I can post a screencast of what's happening.

Thanks a lot, Darius

Hi Darius,

There are a few possible causes for edits not getting saved. First, there is a known issue
where inline edits don't get saved while using the Opera browser, and another known
issue where inline edits to bookmarks with Flickr thumbnails don't get saved while using
any browser.

If neither of those issues are relevant, are you on a slow internet connection? If you edit a
bookmark, save the changes, and then quickly close the page or refresh it, del.icio.us may
not get a chance to complete saving those changes.

For all of these problems, the workaround is to use the "full-screen edit" link from the
inline editing interface (which you get after clicking "edit"). Changes made in the full-
screen editing interface will be reliably saved in pretty much any situation. We're working
on fixing all these problems, though.

Thanks,

I have this problem often. I use firefox, since discovering you can
click 'edit' on any number of bookmarks at once I've been editing
sometimes 5 or more bookmarks at once (to give them all the same tag
or notes etc), and then clicking on save one after the other, without
actually waiting for the edit form to disappear.

A lot of the time have the edits are not saved. Or if I click refresh
(even after the edit forms have gone) half the bookmarks have the old
tags, titles and notes still.

Yes, this is part of a known problem: the edit form being gone doesn't
always indicate that the change has been made. This is fixed in the next
version of Delicious (currently in Preview), but until then, you can
work around this problem by letting the page sit for a few seconds
before refreshing it or using the "full-screen edit" link from the
inline editing interface.

I have the same problem with firefox.

Ever since I found out that you could open the edit form for more than
one bookmark at once I have often been editing 5 or more bookmarks at
once (to give them all the same note or tag for example).

A lot of the time if I refreesh the page, click on another tag, and
then use then go back some of the changes I have made ahve been done,
and others are like they were before. Why's that? I wait until all the
edit forms close before doing this. Surely the fact that the edit form
has gone means that the change has been made. Doesn't it?
